What is the difference between whole or ground flax?
Both hold nutritional value but to gain the most nutritional benefits the flax should be ground. Whole seeds are often not broken down completely during chewing, causing them to be digested whole and missing out on nutrition. Grinding the flax seed allows them to be easier digested.
Dakota Golden Flax is sold whole for easy storage but can be easily ground.
How can I grind the whole Flax seeds?
Whole flax seeds can be easily ground in an inexpensive coffee grinder, blender or food processor that you most likely already have in your kitchen.
What is the shelf life of Flax?
Dakota Golden Flax is sold in whole seed form in a plastic container with an easy poor lid. We suggest storing the flax in a dry area. In whole seed form the seed can be kept for several years. After grinding the flax, it can react with the air and looses it’s effectiveness quicker, once ground store in the refrigerator and the flax should have a shelf life of 4-6months.
